AFFILIATION CASES.

Two affiliation applications were heard before Mr. J. E. Wilson, S.M.. in the Magistrate's Court. One was a ease in which Kric U'rquhart. now in France, was charged with paternity in respect of a child born out of wedlock. After hearing the evidence of the complainants, father of the mother, and also of the mother of the child, the magistrate reserved his decision. Mr. J. H. Ilosking appeared in support of t.ie application, and Mr. E. W. Inder defended.

A similar suit was brought against Arthur Eric-keon, formerly of Wairere. a returned member of the Canadian Forces, charged with paternity of a child born in 101 G. Mr. Matthews, sen., appeared tor the complainant. ?nd .Mr. Singer for the defendant. An order was made of 10/ per week and p.ist maintenance. £30, defendant being given the right to bring the case on for re-hearing if witnesses abroad were available at any time.
