PEACE CELEBRATIONS.

CHILDREN'S DISPLAYS. '.' A meeting of representatives of loca* bodies was held at the Town Hall this afternoon to finally consider the Peace. celebration programme. The reports submitted show that arrangements are well advanced both in regard to local bodies and the schools. The report from the Headmasters' Association stated that a programme of two hours' duration had been drawn up for the children, consisting of massed drill, a display of a living flag, namely, the Union Jack, and a display of physical drill. Mr. A. Murdoch, headmaster of the Normal School, has been appointed chairman of the committee dealing with the schools, Mr. H. Brinsden secretary, and Miss M. Anderson assistant secretary. It was stated that all boy scouts were to be excused from participation: in school items, and that the Headmasters' Association would organise the distribution of refreshments in the Domain. It is anticipated that some 38 schools will be represented, and that an exceptionally large gathering of children will take part in the demonstration. Among the displays by the children it is proposed to have one representing the word "Peace," each letter of the word being formed by a group of children. Mr. H. Wooller, of Ponsonby, well be in charge of the children representing the living flag; Mr. A. Johnston, inspector for physical instruction at the schools in the Auckland province, will be in charge of the physical drill display, and Mr. F. J-. Ohlson, Maungawhau School, in charge of the display representing Peace.
