VICTORIA LEAGUE.

The Manurewa branch of tho Victoria League lichl its annual niPeting last week, when there was a. good attendance of members*. The report showed that the membership stood at sixty. The work during , the year had been chiefly Red Cross, and 242 garments anri To pairs of sock- had been forwarded to the league's headquarters in the city. During the last three years 780 garments had been made by the members, and -ICtS pair.4 of- socks. The Manurewa Queen Carnival for the Red Cross had brought in £ 7SO. A donation of £6 was sent to the Raetihi Fire Fund for the relief of sufferers in that district. The league has kept up gifts of butter, chocolates, and Y..J.C.A. coupons to the local boys on active service and letters of thanks have been received in return. ! Regret was expressed at the resignation, of Mre. Muir as president, caused, through bereavement, after two ye:irs of invaluable help and service to the league. The election of officers resulted as follows: president, Mrs. Brown; vicepresidents, Mesdames i-upton and Perry; hon. secretary, Mrs. P. Mellors; hon. treaaurer, Mrs. Palmer; executive,! Mesdames O. Coxhead, Thompson,! Lovell, Gallaher, Finlay. G. Coxhead, Lucas, and Miss C. H. Lupton.
