Major Geoffrey Armstrong Buddie, Imperial Army, the officer mentioned in lan official cable yesterday as having | I received the Distinguished Service Order, J ;is the second son of Mi C. F. Buddie, solicitor, of Auckland. Major Buddie, ■ who holds two other decorations, is 31 i ! years of age, and an old boy of the ' i Auckland Grcimmar School. After a ; I period in the employ of 3lr. Preston j ! Chambers, surveyor, he went to San! 1 Francisco and took a course in science ; and ou<nneej-ingr at the University of ! California, gaining the B.Sc. degree. He procpeded to England wlicre he was en"•nped npon civil engineering work when the war broke out. He promptly secured a commission in the Royal En-riro-ersandwaespntto Gallipoli. Forser- . vice* there he was awarded tie Serbian j i Order of the White Eagie. Later he j ■ was sent to France, and ehortly after- I , 1 wardfi received Military Crops. He j has heoTi twice passed, but otherwise has I come thrmiph nnharmed.
