HEAVY FIGHTING SOUTH OF NISH.

NINETY THOUSAND PRISONERS IN A MONTH.

(Received 10.15 ajn.) LONDON, October 13. A French Eastern communique says that violent fighting occurred on Thursday south of Nish. between the Serbians and the enemy, reinforced by new Ger» man divisions. Counter-attacks by German Alpine Corps on tbe left bank ot the Morava were shattered with heavy enemy losses. East of the Morava the Serbs continue to advance in the hilLs south of Nish. Since September 15, including the Eleventh German and Bulgarian Army, which was surrounded in the Krichevo and Kelhandelen Passes and surrendered, the Allies have captured/

ninety thousand prisoners, inclnding sixteen hundred officers, five generals, two thousand guns, hundreds of machine guns, and immense booty.— (A and N_. and Renter.)

The Serbian Premier, interviewed, stated that Serbia needed very slight rectification of the frontier to safeguard her railways towards Rumania and Salonika, but Serbia and the other Balkan States were willing to forgive the Bulgars for oppressing their peoples. —(Reuter.) PARIS, October 13. Tho Serbian Government has left Salonika for Uskub, in Central Serbia. (A. and N.Z. Cable.) LONDON, October 13. An earlier communique states: —The Allies continued to make progress northward. The Serbians came into contact south of Nish with strong German forces, including Alpine corps units. After heavy fighting the Serbians reached the River TorJitza, nine miles south of Niah, capturing three guns. French forces occupied Prishtina and advanced far beyond it in pursuit of the enemy fleeing towards Mitrovitea.
