WATERSIDERS' BALL.
Tbe first annual ball of the Watcreidcrs' Social Committee, beld on I'Viday at the Trades Hall, was an UDqtiali-fled success. The attendHDce was limited to about 120 couples, co as to avoid crush an<l confusion. The dworations, the work of the committee ami friends, were beautiful, and the music discoursed by Messrs Parker's orchestra ■ was of the best. "The catering left nothing 'to l>c desired. The dresses, particularly of the ladles, constituted a fine display, and the task of the judges (Messrs G. Davis and E. Phelan, of the Trades Hall Trust) was no easy ona Their verdict I finally went to Mr Tema P. Kewene as "a Maori warrior" and Mrs A. Williamson as "Australia" for thr two beet character drewes. iMr A. Jx:wts, as "Walter Kelly from the Seaside," and Mr .T. Turner, as •IMlse Kelly." received the awards for the 'most original and amusing costumes. The JM.C.'s (Messrs C. Weaver, O. Williams, anil Li. Williamson) performed their dutles t with pronounced success.
