MINOR OPERATIONS
ON BRITISH ±'RONT. STRONG POINTS CAPTURED. (Received 1.15 p.m.) LONDON, September 23. Sir Douglas ilaig reports:—Successful miuur opt-rittiuus occurred on tjuudny at ttcveral jiuiuts. English truupa captured. a strung point in the neighbourhood of I the Kou-stsoy-liony road, bouth-eaat of Epehy, where a counter-attack was repulaed with heavy enemy losa. We also made progress in the direction of Toniboise Farm and captured a group of strongly held trenches and strong points at Saeux, north-west of Vendville, JiJ miles of Epehy. English troops eastward of Gavrelle, in the Arras sector, made progress to a depth of threeI quarters of a mile on a mile front. The I enemy, under a heavy barrage, penetrated out line at Borthaucourt at one point, but a counter-attack re-established the position. —(A. and N.Z. and Beuter.)
