RAPID SPREAD OF STRIKES IN AUSTRIA.
GERMANY SENDS FOOD BRIBES IN HOPE OF ENDING TROUBLE (Received 11.35 a.m.) v COPENHAGEN, June 23. There are ten thousand on strike in Budapest, where bloody riots have occurred. The military and police fired on the crowd. Many postal and telegraph officials have joined the strikers. The Exchange Telegraph states that there is grave news from Hungary of a strike which is imminent among Government officials, connected with the movement of Count Karoly's party lor electoral reform and against the Government's food policy. The "Kretiz Zeitung" says that Germany releases Hungary from her contract to supply potatoes, which...will be diverted to Austria. General Ludendorff telegraphed, placing the entire grain supply from Rumania., Bessarabia, and the Ukraine nt Austria's disposal, while Hungary promised to send food supplies to Austria. There are over 1.50.000 strikers in Vienna. Conflicts with the police have occurred in various quarters.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
