BENZINE SUPPLIES. — ;. ___ DISTRIBUTION AT AUCKLAND. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ! WELLINGTON, this'day. When the Hon. G. W. Russell was at JUargaville and Helenavillc last week a deputation waited upon him regarding .the shortage of benzine supplies and the effect of this upon the dairying and Ashing industries in those districts respectively. The Minister immediately communicated with the Rt. Hon. the Prime Minister, as head of the Board of Trade, and laid the position before him. Mr. Masscy has now informed Mr. Russell that he has.an urgent report from the Board of Trade which states that 47,441 cases of oils for Auckland province have just arrived. The whole of this cargo will be distributed at Auckland, and will be distributed most conservatively by the Vacuum Oil Company, preference being given to essential industries. The shipment includes 1250 cases of distillate and large quantities of Plume benzine and motor spirit. Mr. Massey goe3 on to say that apparently the dairymen and fishermen at Dargaville and Helensville have been purchasing requirements through merchants in those towns.' The Oil Company advised the Auckland manager to supply sufficient stocks to keep all fishermen and owners of dairying plants supplied at the wholesale prices to merchants ruling on Saturday at Auckland, namely, petrol. 23/S per case; distillate, 19/2. The Minister sincerely trusts that this will relieve the position, and would suggest that those in need of supplies for industrial pur-, pcees should immediately communicate with the company.
