WOMEN'S PATRIOTIC LEAGUE.
APPEAL FOR FUNDS.
The display .or making known the scope of its work was continued by the League at the Strand Arcade during the week, the shop being occupied by the Dominion Gifts, Hussife and Camps Committees. One of the chief attractions waß the demonstration showing the making and filling of the hussife, which are supplied to each man in camp. Each of the four Dominion centres, by arrangement with the 9 Government, supplies 760 hussifa a month. The leather is supplied by tho Government, but the cutting out, making and filling is done at the respective centres. A Bubsidy of ninepence each is paid the League towards the filling, but the balance ot the cost, approximately 2/6 per huss.t, is paid by the patriotic fund. The huseifs contain pins, needles, safety pins, tape, assorted buttons, wool, thread and boot laces. On Thursday the Literature Committee gave a second demonstration. From the interest taken in making the extent of its activities more publicly known, the League feels assured that when the Canvassing Committee gets to work the £25,000 appealed for will be forthcoming.
