SYDNEY, February 27. : For a couple of days there has been 4considerable boom in. Broken Hill Proprietary shares in. Sydney. The price; touched 75/, and then "receded to 72 A Tlie rise is less marked in Melbourne and Adelaide. The cause of the advanca is not apparent. It is partially attributed to the chairman's statement at tha half-yearly meeting that the nrofits for the past "year had been £560,000, as! against £400,000 the previous year, and 1 also to a rumour of the intention of the company to separate the Newcastle steel j works from the Broken Hill mining undertakings.— (A. and N.Z.
