MORE ABOUT BERNSTORFF
SMUGGLER OF DOCUMENTS. NEW YORK, October 14. It is stated that Count Bernstorff, during his term of office as German Ambassador, smuggled diplomatic documents from the United States in a tobacco hogshead shipped by a German official who was previously a tobacco dealer. British officials discovered the ruse, this being the first clue to Count Bernstorff's duplicity.— (A. and N.Z.)
