ST. JAMES' CHURCH.
Good progress was reported at the annual meeting of members of St. James' Presbyterian Church, over ■which the "Rev. R. L. Walker presided. The annua\ report was a. very satisfactory one. showing an increase in members, notwithstanding deaths and transfers. The roll of honour showed over 90 young men gone to the front, of whom no less than 14 have made the supreme sacrifice. A elight increase is shown in the roll of the Sunday school. Owing to so many young men having gone to the front" lady teachers had to fill the vacancies. The 'financial statement was also satisfactory. • showing that the overdraft was now reduced to a little over £100. and it is hoped this will be wiped ofT within the *ie.xt two years by the guarantee fund. With the exception of that sum there is no liability on the church, hall, or manfio buildings. All the members of the retirine committee of management were re-elected.
