TERRIFIC BOMBARDMENT ALONG THE FRONT.

FRANCE, July 27. After the battle of Mesaines the New Zealanders enjoyed a" spell out of the line, during which they held a sports meeting lasting three days. There is much au- activity on both sides, including night flying and bombing of back areas. Tho other nigh* the enemy bombed a hospital, killing and wounding several men. Enemy aeroplanes fly lower than formerly, and a few have recently been firing their machine-guns into our trenches. The artillery on both sides is active. Recently there have been terrific bombardment* rairin* along various parts of the front. Day and night we listen to the continuous thunder of guns.—(New Zealand War Correspondent's Message)
