HOTELKEEPER'S FAILURE.
MEETING OF CREDITORS. A meet in" of creditors in the bankrupt estate ol" .lames N". Griffin. hctelJkeeper. Ktimett. was held al. the office of the Oflieial Assignee (Mr. W. rj. Fisher) yesterday afternoon. Bankrupt's schedule showed the deficiency in the estate to be ciin 7 1 In the absence of a statement. Mr. Mowbray i for the bankrupt I stated that bankrupt had called a meeting of creditors, at which his wife had made an offer of 111/- in the £. Shortly afterwards one of the creditors issued a distress warrant, and bankrupt was forced to file to protect the other creditors. Bankrupt (examined) stated that the hotel was not paying, and to improve bis position lie purchased a chaffcutter, but this venture did not have the desired result. An accommodation bouse which be started on the West Coast also turned out a failure. It was eventually decided I tint tbo creditors would be prepared to acc-pt 8/- in the X, and that a further meeting be called if no proposition were forthcoming in a fortnight.
