CAREERS OF THE FALLEN. PRIVATE A. P. LEES. Private Arthur P. Lees, reported severely wounded, is the foster sou of Mr and Mrs Miller. Cook Street, city. lie was educated at the Murist Brothers' School, and at the time of his enlistment With the Eighteenth Reinforcements was in the employ of the Auckland Harbour Board. PRIVATE G. MILLER. Private George Miller. reported wounded, was educated at the Marist Bros.' School, and the Sacred Heart College. He is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Miller. Cook Street. City. Prior to enlisting with the Eighteenth Reinforcement, he was in the employ of the Acetylene trad Company, of thus ritv. From the latest information received. Private Miller is in the Hornchurch Hospital. His brother. William Miller, also left with the Eighteenth Reinforcement, and is now holding a commission.

SERGEANT J. MAHONEY. Sergeant Maboney, killed in action, was i~ years of age, and was a native of Wellington, living lor many years at Island Ray. He is perhaps best known in Auckland, where he had been residing for some four years prior to enlisting in the Fourteenth Reinforcements in March, 1015. His remarkably cheerful nature and buoyant spirits won for him a great number of friends, especially in athletic circles. As a member of the senior hockey team of the Cniversity 'he earned great reputation, both a~ local and representative player. He excelled equally in cricket, football, and in the gymnasium, and in all departments he showed his characteristic qualities— clean play and hard play. Those who knew him intimately saw best the noble qualities of his character —a high sense of honour, truth and courage. He is one of Uie many for the loss of whom this young country is so much the poorer. TWO BROTHERS KILLED. Rifleman Ernest Orr. reported killed in action on June 7th. and Henry Wm. Orr. reported killed in action on June S, 1017. were two of the six soldier sons of Mr. and Mrs. J. \Y. Orr, of Kaitangiweka. Taumarunui. Rifleman Ernest Urr left in the 14th Reinforcements, aud had been on service since last September. He was well known throughout the King Country. LanecCorporal Henry Orr left in the Ist Battalion of the N.Z. Rille Brigade, and saw service in "Western Egypt and on the Western front. He took part in tbe Summe offensive, and was wounded in the neck on that occasion. He made a speedy recovery, and had been with the unit ever since. The other members of the Orr family on active service are Private Norman Orr. of the 2nd Wellington Battalion (who was awarded the Military Medal for services in tbe Sorumo battle i. Rifleman A. L. Orr (reported wounded on June 8, 1017), Pri- \ ate Percy Orr. 2nd Wellington Battalion, and Trooper Len Orr. of the Australian Light Horse, now on active service in Palestine.
