BY-ELECTION IN BRITAIN.
(Received 8.30 a.m.l LONDON, June 20. The by-election for the Abercromby seat, formerly held by Colonel R. C'haloner. resulted in the return of Lord Statley, who polled 2,224 votes to tiie 794 polled by Mr Hughes, his opponent. — (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
