The Minister of Defence informs mc that the Government finds it necessary to introduce legislation dealing with men classed as lit for home sen ice. The • Military Service Act only gives power to employ them in a military capacity, and the Government requires statutory authority to place them in essential industries if necessity arises. The National Efficiency Board is continuing its investigations in regard to men available to complete the organisation of New Zealand's industries.
