SUGAR DEARER.
9 SUGGESTED GOVERNMENT ACTION. ATTITUDE OF DEMOCRACY. Discussing the increase that is mooted in the price of sugar, Mr. C. -H. Poole. M.P.. hud the following to say to a "Star" reporter this morning:— "The present unwarranted increase in the price of sugar is not calculated to please the consumers in this country, who are being exploited in many directions in the midst of the sacrifices being made in their young manhood. The Government would be well advised if they refused to permit any other increases in commodities the producers of which are at the present time showing enormous profits. This is a note of warning respecting the attitude of democracy at the exorbitant increase in the cost of living."
