THE GERM IN EAGLE.
OBJECTIONABLE TRADE MARK. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHCRCH, Thursday. | The Christchureh Licensing Committcc-to-day renewed the wholesale license of Bernhardt Ballin. The application was held over from the annual meeting because it was considered that Ballin's trade mark, "The German Eagle," was undesirable and an affront to public opinion. Counsel for the applicant said this trade mark had been in use for fifty years, but had recently been changed, owing to the war. A stock of bottles' bearing the new brnnd could not be obtained. The applicant was born in Germany, but was naturalised many years ago. In granting the renewal the chairman (Mr, Bishop, S.M.) Baid he was eatisfied j with the explanation, and sure that every effort would be made to meet the com! mittee in its wish to have the objection-I able trade mark dealt with in such a w_v that it would not be an affront to the public of the Dominion.
