McDonald Street and Jull Street were also under water. , The Napier West School was practically surrounded. The main street at the Port is a sheet of water, and the trani3 have to take the utmost care owing to the slippery condition of the lines. The Harbour Board's paddocks are likewise turned into lakes of water. On the town side of Shakespeare Road there has ■been a big 6lip near Mr. Coopers residence, and the trains were held up uutil it was cut away. There are also several slips on the Breakwater Road.

A WILD SCENE. '•'There is an extremely heavy sea running; in fact, the Breakwater is practically hidden from view by the waves. Along the whole length of the Port breastwork the sea is dashing almost right across the road. Rocks are being hurled over, and the road is dangerous for both pedestrians and traffic. On the Parade the shingle is being banfcSd up against the wall, but the whole Becne presented there is truly a phenomenal one. The feathery white spray, which formed such a great attraction at our last storm, is again blowing across the Parade like a snow drift."'
