GISBORNE TRAGEDY.
MAORI WOMAN MtTBDERED. SKULL SPLIT WITH AN AXE. HUSBAND DISAPPEARS. (By Telegraph. —Press Association.) GISBORNE, Sunday. A tragedy occurred to-night, a. married woman named Charlotte Tewihero, .residing with Jier husband, Abraham Tewliero, in Fox Street, being murdered with an axe. Quarrelling had been beard in the house by the neighbours for some days. When they arrived a few minutes after the tragedy the husband waa missing. Tlhe woman, who sustained a wound on the head, died while being taken to the hospital. The police are now searching for the husband. So .far no trace of him has been iound. Towhero ia a labourer, and is 45 years of age. The murdered woman, who was previously married, leaves two grown-up ! daughters by her first marriage, and two M.-uightcrs and two sons, all under 11 vearcs, by the second.
