CYCLING.
There was a great struggle in the last New York six days' bicycle race between the eventual winners—Eg" and Dupuy and the rest of the contestants A "jump" gained a bit of a break in the final and for twenty minutes these two riders, by continually relieving each other, battled against the efforts of the other riders to overtake them. Gradually the breach widened until a lap was gained, and the destination of the rich stake practically decided. Dupuy was subsequently disqualified by the French cycling authorities, they holding that if he was capable of a strenuous race like the New York event he was certainly in a condition to take his part in the greater game and fight as a Frenchman loi his country.
