EMPIRE'S RESPONSIBILITY.
LONDON, June 8. A question was asked in the House of Commons by Major Rowland Hunt (Unionist member for Ludlow) whether, in view of the fact that our soldiers and sailors had been told they were fighting for the very existence .of tbe Empire, and that resolutions had been passed in various parts of the Empire that the Governments of the Empire should accept the sole responsibility for settlement and future welfare of the Empire's soldier^ I and sailors, together with their near j | dependents, the Imperial Government was prepared to accept this responsibility. The Secretary of State for Home 'Vffairs (Sir George Cave) replied thatj lie could say no more at present than that the Government was most carefully considering the subject.—.(Reuter.)
