NEW PEACE OFFER.
VETOED BY KAISER. I.OXDOX, May 20. Writing in the newspaper "Deutsche Tagcs Zeitung," the mouthpiece of the German Agrarian party. Count Reventlow, one of the principal advocates of "f rightfulness," declares that before Easter the German Chancellor and L'oun* yon Czernin (Austrian Foreign Minister) had outlined a new peace oiler. They submitted it to the Kaiser for signature, but the Kaiser snubbed them. Count Reventlow adds that the Chancellor and Count yon Czernin had completed an agreement for peace without annexations. (A. and X 55. Cable.) The "Daily Mail" states that other information reveals that the Kaiser and the militarists alone prevented the, German Government making new peace proposals.—! United Service.) In an interview given to a number of journalists, General I-'alkenliayn saidi "Not only the people at home arc raving about peace, but the soldiers at the front are equally desirous. But peace can come only when a happy futuro is assured Germany, and no enemy can ever set foot on German soil again."—(A. and X.Z.)
