SERIOUS MOTOR ACCIDENT.

CAR FALLS OVER BANK. SHEER DROP OF EIGHTY FEET. OCCUPANTS' MARVELLOUS ESOAPE. (By Telegraph.—PTess Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A serious motor accident occurred yesterday on Paekakariki Hill, at the same spot where a car dropped three hundred feet a week ago, the vehicle and occupants then escaping marvellously. Yesterday an accident occurred in the same way. Mr. and Mrs. Cleaver and infant, Mrs. Barker and infant, were motoring to Wellington together. On reaching a steep pinch, the driver of the car changed to the low gear, then, while changing to the second gear, he slipped into the neutral, _ .d before the brakes could be applied, the car ran back, and went over the side of the road, getting a sheer drop of eighty feet. It turned over three times as it fell.

Mrs. Cleaver managed to jump clear with her child before the car dropped over, but the other occupants fell with the vehicle.

Mrs. Barker and her child fell out at the first overturn, but Mr. Cleaver went right down. He and Mrs. Barker's child were cut about the head. Mrs. Barker was injured on the back. The marvel is how they all escaped death. Other travellers coming along shortly afterwards brought the injured people into Wellington for medical treatment
