TWO HOSPITAL SHIPS SUNK.
ONE SUBMARINED WITHOUT WARNING.
FIFTY-TWO DROWNED ON MINED VESSEL,
(Received 10.20 a.m.) LONDON, April 13. The hospital ship Gloucester Castle was sunk by a submarine without warning. All the wounded on board her were saved. The hospital ship fc>alta was mined and sunk in the Channel. Fifty-two of those aboard were drowned. The Gloucester Castle wa.*, a British steamer of 7,09!) tons, belonging to the I'nion Castle Mail Steamship Co., Ltd.. a company controlling about 50 large vessels. She was built in 1111 lby the Fairfield Co., Ltd., of Glasgow. The Salta, a French steamer of 7,'iS4 tons, was registered at Marseilles. She was built in 1011, and belonged to a well known French shipping company.
