SPECIAL COMMITTEE FOR EPSOM. APPOINTED TO CITY COUNCIL. Since the passing of the Order-in-Council that made Epsom a part of the City, the residents of that district have been without representation on the governing body, the City Council. The solicitor to the late Road Board (Mr. A. E. Skelton) waited upon the Mayor this morning to discuss the matter. It was eventually agreed that the chairman of the late Board, Mr. H. Frost and Mr. H. E. Vaile, a member, be appointed as a special Epsom committee, to watch the interests of the district during the two months, that must elapse before the elections are held. Mr. Skelton intimated on behalf of the residents of the districts, that" he thought this arrangement would prove satisfactory. The Mayor stated that the Road Board office at Epsom, and the staff, would remain as at present until March 31, after which date it would be the business of the Corporation to go fully into the needs of the district, and to make as many allocations for necessary works as possible. "When the programme is presented to the Council," eaid the Mayor, "ratepayers of Epsom will see that it was to their advantage to amalgamate with the city."'
