Count Karolyi (Leader of the Liberal ■party) , speaking in the -Hungarian Diet, pointed out that the cost of living for a family of five in - Germany had increased during the.period of the war by 95' per in Hungary the increase "had been 218 per cent. "We will probably be forced-, to make 'peace through lack of nourishment," said the Count. "It -is useless to conquer provinces and obtain military advantages if . the population has . nothing to eat. If famine .forces us to ask'for peace, it will be shameful and disastrous."
