AMERICA TAKES THE HINT.
STOPS FLYING PEACE KITES.
MR FORD MOVES AGAIN.
(Australian and X.Z. Cable Association.)
WASHINGTON, October 6,
High officials deny that America has taken, or intends to take, immediate steps in the direction of. mediation. They declare that the many rumours to that effect are without foundation. The statement made by Mr Lloyd George in his recent interview showed" clearly that such a step would not be welcome."
Meanwhile developments are beinjy watched for indications as to when peace proposals would be welcomed. Some interest has.been created by the announcement that Mr Henry "Ford has summoned the secretary of the Stockholm conference to visit America, and also by a notification that Count yon Bernstorff, the German "Ambassador will pay a special visit to Mf Wilson on Monday.
