TOR WOMEN SCHOOL WOTECTORS. . EDUCATION BOARDS REQUEST. The recommendation forwarded by the 3oard of Education to the Deparbnent in favour of the appointment of a woman as an inspector of schoob has been replied to in. the following terms: "I have to acknowledge the receipt of your memorandum of the 15th inst. conveying the Board's resolution that a woman.be appointed to the inspectorial staff of the Auckland Education District, and to say that when the Education Act was drafted the employment of female inspectors was contemplated to look after matters specially appertaining to girls and to infant work. Thfe view has not been lost sight of, but as such inspectors could not take the place of the inspectors at ipreeent at york, but •would be supplementary, the time does not appear opportune for.euch an extension."
