CHARGE OF MURDER.
TITE ACCUSED'S _?_______ ■"TRIED-TO K-Uj HIMSELF-" (By Telegraph-—Press Association.) WELLISGTON, this day. The trial of Alfred Chari-S Jewell Devoin, charged with murder of Locisa White, in Nairn Street Reserve cm May 14. began in the Supreme Court to-day. On being asked to plead accused said: •'I tried to kill myself. I did not fire at her. I loved her." The question was twice repeated, and the same answer -was given. Judge Chapjoan then ordered a plea of " Not guilty" to be entered. The case is proceeding.
