TJuite an , epoch in the campaign for the relief of destitute children now being waged so enthusiastically and successfully by the children, throughout the schools of the province was the crowning ceremony at the New Lynn echool yesterday. There was a large attendance including the Belgian Consul (Mr. A. M. Ferguson), Mrs. Ferguson, and Mrs. C. J. Parr. The successful queen was Mies Doris Baker, Queen of the Army, who gained 6000 votes. In performing the crowning ceremony Mr. Ferguson congratulated the children and teachers upon the excellent results achieved during the campaign. Aβ the result of the carnival the fund was augmented by £47. The fund now stands at £2,037, the latest donations being:— £ b. d.
