BRITISH ATTACK GERMAN SECOND LINE.
BREAK INTO POSITION ON FRONT OF FOUR MILES*
TWO VILLAGES CAPTURED IN FIRST MOVEMENT.
LONDON, July 14.
The High Commissioner cables:— General Sir Douglas Haig reports*-. - 'At dawn ire attacked the second system of enemy defences. We broke into the position-on a front of four miles and captured several etrong positions. Heavy fighting continues. We have captured Longueyal, 3 miles east of Contalmaison, and Bazentin-le-Grand. a mile due east of Contalmaison, and liave also cleared Trones Wood.
