WHARF ACCIDENTS.
TOO HIGH A PERCENTAGE. (By. Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.? WELLINGTON, Thnreday. Mr. Vigor Brown asked the Minister •. of Marine to-day if ho was awaro of the number of accidents happening on the wlmrvcs throughout New Zealand. Ho understood accident* averaged nearly one per day at Wellington, while t&ere were a Urge number at Auckland. These accidents, he nndoistood, were very frequent owhiff to tramo of the gear being oat of repair. Ho nvould Bee to know if the Minister wae making any provision to minhniEe these accidents; The Hon. McKab replied that he had been informed that a number .of accidents hod token place on the wharves, but he pointed out fhat wharves did not come under tho centrol of the Marine Department, but under tlie control of the harhmrr boards. Tho Marine Department only controlled wha-t took place on board veesete, He would, however, look inte tie" matter, to gee if the Marine Department. could intervene, with the object of having these wharf accidents minimised. _
