MATINEE FOR NAVY LEAGUE.
The ladies of the Emergency Committee of the Xavy League were" in char 3 e and arranged the matinee performance I held at the Lyric Theatre on Wednesday j afternoon, when a full hou* e ! rewarded I their efforts. The entertainment was | entirely run by ttjf voluntary workers of" the committee, who took "over the doors, acted in the pay desks, and carried the ushers' lamps. During the performance, which included the aims "Britain Prepared" and "David Harum,'' a number of enthusiastic workers sold theatre, and did such good business that five pounds will be handed over to the lunds or the Ladies' Kmergenev Committee, in whose aid the matinee was held. The following young ladies sold sweeta. — Misses Esam, Haythornthwaite, Tucker, Duiaur (2), Clarke, OUen, Ifwexsen, Hunter. Gregory. Campbell, and Vernon. The hearty thanks of the League are given to Mr. Hayward for the generous gift of the use of the theatre"for the afternoon: Mr. Petersen, whose kindness was unfailing throughout: Miss Nicholi, pianist; and Mr. Thompson, operator, who ail gave their services free.
