RIDICULOUS EXCESS.

'' CABLED EXPLOITS OF ANZACS. ("j- Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. A cable which appeared in to-day's pa;iers containing an absurdly exaggerated and florid account about the exploits of the Anzaos on the French •front produced a vigorous protest in the -House to-day. Mr. Wilford asked the -Prime Minister if he could, on behalf of Xew Zealand people, convey to those responsible that the nauseating kind of piffle cabled out and- published in the morning papers about the Anzacs was not what we wanted. (Hear, hear.) That was the kind of 6tufi' which Philip Gihbs wrote for the "Daily Chronicle." Mr. Wilford could not help thinking that Mr. Gibb was under the impression that people out here liked it. He would like to see the Premier send a dignified protest on behalf of New Zealand. Mr. Massey expressed his complete sympathy with Mr. Wilford's statement He knew perfectly well that a very great deal of so-called information about our troops .was unworthy to be published in the Press. (Hear, hear.) It was a waste of time and money. In fact, five out of six telegrams sent to '''in-;elf. were not worth opening. He ™S therefore, be very glad to see what -could he done to remedy the mat-ter.-(Hear, hear.)
