State, mine ceaeed work on Friday last in - support' .of a claim (or an increase at. 1/- a/diy from 11/- to 12/-, owing to the increased cost of living. The manager of the mill, which supplies the coal mines with timber, referred the matter of a corresponding increase in prices to the general manager, all timber.supplies being under contract. ,-■.■■
