FIREMEN'S STORY OF TTS CAUSE.

CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday.
A number of the (Maori's firemen Arrived at Lyttelton yesterday afternoon, having travelled by the Westralia as passengers. They disagreed as to the reason lor leaving ttie vessel at Wellington. It is stated that the true reason was because tales were carried to one of the engineers from the stokehold by One of the firemen. No passenger -Iteftif-r will leave Lyttelton to-night. TBe mails were brought by the Kahika, a cargo boat. Several Southern members of reinforcements returning from leave were stranded in Christchurch, and arrangements were made by the military authorities to lodge them at King Edward Barracks.
