MATTER FOR THE STATE.
SYDNEY, this day. The Labour Council refused to endorse the Red Cross Society's application to exempt from the operation of the Wages Board as far as honrs are concerned certain trade houses the society proposes to establish for teaching/ trades to wounded soldiers. The grounds of the refusal are that the market is already fully supplied with labour in the industries mentioned, and also that it was never intended that the funds of the society should be used to encourage such schemes, which should be run by the State, and the products used for State purposes only.
