GERMANS IN EAST AFRICA FLEE SOUTHWARDS
BRITISH FORCES IN RAPID PURSUIT.
LONDON, March 16. General Smuts, commander of the British forces in German East Africa, reports that he occupied Moshi on Monday last, and that he is pushing on with a view to occupying Arasa, a few miles to the south, which it is believed the Germans have evacuated.
The Germans are apparently retiring rapidly southwards, finding the Tanga railway of great assistance, whilst numerous rivers are hindering the pursuit.
