On Wednesday evening last a most successful social was held in the l'ukenu-i Hall, Huntly 'West, tendered to Mr Goo. ■Kumiss, -who Is at present on leave from Trentham. There were about Hfty conples present, the surrounding districts being ■well represented, and the school wae most artistically decorated with flags for the occasion. Burins the evening Mr Jfurniss
was presented with a handsome wristlet watch and a safety rawir. Mi U. McKlwain, chairman of the Fanners' Union, mide the presentation, nud In doing co etrongly urged that those young men of the district

The members of the Presbyterian Chntch presented the Rev. J. Richards, who has ibeen transferred to Blenheim, with .an
illuminated address and a purse of sovereigns. The function took place in the church, and was well attended.
