DROWNING FATALITY FEARED
ANOTHER WEST COAST INCIDENT. •It is 'feared that another drowning fatality has ■occurred at the West Coaet. A married man, George Basife, has been missing from Bethel's boardingii ouso since Monday last, and grave anxiety ia felt for Ws eafety. .1 On, Mftjidaj- at 8.30 a.m. the miseing man left the boardmghouec on a fishing excnxßion to the rooks. Ac. he ■failed to return in the evening a seaTch was made foT 'him by his friende, but it was unsuccessful. The only trace waa the discovery of hie "billy" and lunch taiken from the- house in the morning. These were discovered near a fissure in' the rocks, over which Mir Basire was in the habit of jumping. It is probable that in attempting to leap this gap Mr Basire Was precipitated into the taatef arid carried out to sea. The missing man ie 53 years of age, and is employed by the Railway-Department as a clerk. He resided in Arthur Street, ETlcrslie.
