A train conveying the Lyttelton District High School picnic to Amberley met with a mishap at Addington this morning. The engine ran off the line and overturned. A van behind it was smashed, but the carriages were not derailed. One child was thrown out of a carriage window, but was uninjured. The driver and stoker jumped clear. The picnic party was transferred to another train.
