POLICE COURT.
(Before Mr. F. V. Frazer, S.M.). DRUNKENNESS. Joseph Murphy (38),. up for a second offence, agreed to try the effect of a prohibition order, and he was accordingly convicted and discharged. George Harrison (50), up for the t.hir.l time recently, was remanded for medical treatment. MISCELLANEOUS. For driving horses on the road at Ellerslie without having them under proper control, Louis McLellan was fined 5/ and 9/ costs.' Edward Tierney, for motoring in Hobson Street after dark without having a tail-light on the machine, was fined 5/ and 7/ costs. A youth, for leaving a motor car unattended for more than an hour in Gore Street, was admonished and discharged. Samuel Wakeley, for motoring in Queen Street after sunset without sufficient lights, was fined 5/ and 7/ costs. William Madijran and Albert Powell, two carters who left their carts outside an hotel in Albert Street without having lit up the vehicles, and remained in the hotel till some time after sunset, were fined 5/ and 7/ costs each for the oversight.
Fitzgerald Clerk, a West Indian negro, was adjudged the father of the illegitimate child of a married woman, and an order of maintenan-ee of 10/ per week was made against him.
