The Rev. C. J. Kiimersley has been appointed honorary chaplain to the New Zealand. Expeditionary.--Force in Samoa. Mr. H. D.' Heather," chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, -has returned from his visit to Wellington. Mr. C. B. The death of Mr. Caleb Wood, of iParnell, has just occurred at the age of 73. Deceased had led a strenuous, active life as a colonist for some 54 years, and took a deep interest in all that concerned the best -welfare of the community. He was a member of the B&rnell Borongt Council for some time, and -vras also connected with the Institute for the Blind for many years. Mr. "Wood is survived by his widow, three sons, and three daughters. The eldest son is at present serving at the front •with the Australian Field Ambulance. Lance-Corporal T. Long, secretary of the Auckland Hotel and Restaurant Em- : ployees' Union, is at present on • leave • from Trentham.
