PATRIOTIC EXHIBITION.

FOSTERING 1 , LOCAL INDUSTRIES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Sunday. The patriotic exhibition at the Town Hall was brought to a conclusion last night, after a week's marked success. Throughout the afternoon and evening the hall was thronged with people. A strong feature of the exhibition has been the singularly effective character of the addresses which have been delivered in regard to the promotion of Imperial trade and the rigid exclusion of German and Austrian manufactures after the war. On Saturday night addresses were delivered by Mr/c. M. Luke, president of the Wellington Central Chamber of Commerce, who occupied the chair. Madame Boeufve, Mr. R. W. Dalton, Imperial Trade Commissioner, and the Hon. Dr. R. McNab, Minister for Justice. At a dinner tendered by exhibitors to members of the executive it was mentioned that similar exhibitions are likely to be held in Auckland, Christehurch, and Dunedin shortly. A resolution was carried in favour "of ascertaining the policy of the Government as to the future of the commerce of the Dominion, and recommending to the associated chambers of commerce the .desirableness of encouraging such exhibitions, 'also impressing on chambers and industrial associations the advisability of preparing lists of locally-manufactured goods which are. available to purchaser-,. ° Apart from the free use of the Town Hall, the fees paid by. exhibitors ha« met all expenses and left a credit balance of £50. The cheque for this amount was handed over to the Mayor as a subscription to the patriotic funds.
