PATRIOTIC FUND LOANS
£1,500 FOR HAMILTON". (Hy Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. The Auckland Provincial Patriotic Association has agreed to lend the Hamilton Borough Council £1.500 for a period of ten years at 5} per cent, for the purpose of laying down electric mains. An application for a loan of £700 for a period of 20 years at the same rate of interest was refused on the grounds that the full long-dated investments have been made.
At a meeting of the Hamilton Council last night, the Mayor (Mr. J. K. Hammond) said the Patriotic Association, since making the offer, had promised to again review the application, and there was a probability of getting the money at 5 1-8 per cent, the rate at which the Association had been lending to the Auckland City Council.
In the latter event the Mayor was authorised to close on the offer.
