John Richard Salters, gardener and orchardist. living at Whan Whnu Valley, near Whangarei. was found dead in his whare on Christmas Eve. Mr. Thomas Wallbank called at his place to obtain some fruit, and as he could get no answer to knocking, he went into the whare, finding Salters lying dead on his bed. From appearnces he had probably been dead two days. The police were communicated with, and the remains were brought to Whangarei. Salter was n widower, living alone, and was about 49 years of age. At the inquest a verdict was returned in accordance with the medical testimony, that death was dun to cardiac failure.
