George Wallace (24) and Percy Barnato Richardson (40), were arrested at the railway station on Sunday evening by Detectives Cummings and Hammond, on charges that they 'were idle and disorderly persons in that they habitually consorted ! with reputed thieves. "They are not the sort of men we want round here at Christmas time," declared Chief Detective McMahon, when the acri_scd were brought before the Police Court this morning. "They are not long from Australia. aJid are believed to be connected with a pickpocket gang that pays us periodical visits at holiday time. Though they do not follow any regular legal occupation so far as we can ascertain, 'Wallace .had .tin on him. and Richardson was possessed of £52." Mr. McMahon requested that the pair be tcmanded for a week, and that the bail, which accused applied for, should be made substantial. The remand was granted, and bail wae fixed at one surety of £100 in each case.
